Stage II
I watched the Sunday race on OLN.
The Giro was in Belgium for the second of four stages. The race will head to Italy for the fifth stage on Thursday.
Robbie McEwen won the second stage of the Giro d'Italia on Sunday, edging Olaf Pollack and Olympic champion Paolo Bettini in a group sprint at the finish line.
McEwen, of the Davitamont-Lotto team, completed the 122.1-mile ride from Mons to Charleroi in 4 hours, 51 minutes, 40 seconds. McEwen's longtime rival Alessandro Petacchi finished fourth.
Defending champion Paolo Savoldelli, who celebrated his 33rd birthday on Sunday, retained the overall leader's pink jersey by finishing in the main group in the same ti
me as the winner.
Savoldelli took command of the race by winning the opening leg, an individual time trial, on Saturday.

Discovery's Jason McCartney has a journal on OLN about the race. He hasn't been doing a very good job of updating it, but I still check on it.

Maybe you should write the shit for the StarTrib.
What kind of gearing do those guys run? 2x7 or something?
I heard their gears are really slight intervals from one another as to keep their cadence while pumping up hills and what not, sounds smooth.
Are they allowed to use carbon frames? Do they run aluminum instead?
