So, the depth of disco jams has been getting real deep in the Forest as of late. (I see you Ryan. Where are you Josh?) And, seeing as REW has been doing all the groundwork I though I would add to the pile. Those of us remotely familiar with Disco and the infectious groves associated with Disco are quick to site Larry Levan as one of the grove pioneers. I won't go into much detail here, but he was that dude. You know, the guy who started house(debatable), the guy who was a notorious asshole, the guy who "couldn't mix", the guy with a heroic appetite for boys and drugs and the guy who made disco edits of errr-tang. That guy. Anyway, I found this zip file of a bunch of 12" mixes on the world wide innernette online dot com:
Larry Levan unzipped my pants - 250mb look out.
This is, by no means, a complete collection. But its got some of them damn jams you need...
Highlights:
Walking Into Sunshine (Original Larry Levan 12' Mix)
Every way but loose (Larry Levan Remix)
C Is For Cookie[Special Disco Mic By Larry Levan]
Labels: Larry Levan, Ned Sucks, REWDDEWD

great thanks so much infectious groves!
i found the celestial choir mix particlerlerly inneressing and heart warming.
i tend to simply lap up the delicious sweat from my friends' hard musical researchin' so it's good to get learned a little now and again.
Having a bit of trouble with this MEGAUPLOAD page... is Joubert Singers "Stand on the word" in here??
there's a stand on the word in here, but the artist is listed as "celestial choir" and it sounds like a group of kids.
Yeah! Same group apparently.
When that one kid belts out: "We don't know how we don't know wheeeerreeee"... bootyful.
Originally a Walter Gibbons mix and release, I don't know how the two stack up as I think I've only heard the Levan one.
Be sure to check out all Walter Gibbons stuff you can find too, if you want sweet, sweet disco feelings.
awwwwwwwyeaaahhhpp.
JIMMY ROSS - FIRST TRUE LOVE AFFAIR
This shit is the best; was gonna put it up real soon!
LAL-IV, I recommend mixxxing this with Beat the Street by Sharon Redd because at one point when it breaks back into that uber-duber hot synth bassline, it pairs so well with that stuttering Prelude beat (of the street) and they can play off each other real well. At least that's with the long mix I have on the 12" which is like 7'15"...the A side is a 5'59" mix... dunno what's up with this 6'30" or so mix...
Oh, I just played it till the end and it totally cuts off abruptly.
