I love the Smiths but as Ryan will tell you there's nothing more annoying than someone trying to sing like Morrissey while you're trying to sleep.
Morrissey was always the reason it took me so long to dig the Smiths. But then one day I woke up, and felt... well...you know, like I wanted to suck a mans dick. Since then I have been able to listen to the Smiths, and still feel comfortable with my Heterosexuality.
Morrissey is a pretty easy target. People that imitate Morrissey are even easier targets.
You know you've reached enlightenment when the desire to suck another man's dick makes you comfortable with your heterosexuality.
I've always been big on Louder than Bombs, but never really gotten into any of their actual LPs.
The whole toughguy greaser Morrissey fan Mexican man contingent is kind of an odd one...how did that happen?

Louder Than Bombs is the nly thing I've ever owned by the Smiths. That Echo & the Bunnymen stuff has been blowing my rythm is two halfs. I really love it. That, and Dexy's Midnight Runners
man. I used to hate morrisey. In some ways, I still do. I always thought Smiths covers were much better than Smiths songs (Dinosaur Jr.'s cover of The Boy with the Thorn in his side"). Ironically, today I was listening to Dug Martsch's cover of "this night has opened my eyes", and my car died. In the middle of a busy Boston street, in rush hour. Coincidence? Fuck you Morrisey.
