So I stumbled across this "USA=#1" video and was really impressed. I mean, the song is cute and funny and whatever, but the animation was just so bonkers.
Less impressed yet more intrigued since looking up Vinvet Collins and his authentic bicentennial celebration animation. Available here:

Oh, and the Japanese pranks are great. Can't hear the sound, so dunno if there's any clues thru that as to the versimilitude of the victims' reactions and participations. Coming from the USA (#1 btw), it's SO hard to imagine they would actually pull this shit on unsuspecting people, but after being here for a while, it makes more sense and I'm hardly surprised at all.
Whatchoo doodes think?
Even the rocket-chair at the end?

burning sinners and burning oil - that pretty much sums it up I'd say.

Who knows how spontaneous or unannounced those pranks were - my guess would be these guys knew something physical and crazy was going to happen in relation to the massage chair but didn't know what. I would also guess that these were just normal guys who happened to be on the mountain skiing or snowboarding who the show asked to participate. That seems to be the balance of real and fake on Japanese TV.
Either way, this caliber of Japanese television is rare these days. I feel like now only poorly paid comedians are thrown in the path of hilarious danger, not the unsuspecting (completely scripted) civilian (naked old man).

I mean, they built a jump for the rocket chair.

Say the rocket was powerful enough to go uphill - you could shoot all over the mountain everyday. Bring some beers, get a massage, pick up babes.
And all while your kintama get kissed by the gentle mountain breeze, no less.

hehehehe, yeah! so good.

I'm surprised there isn't a satellite channel in the states for retro-Japanese TV or something. Bet it would be popular.

Beware of chairs that make the "countdown to exposure" noise.
