Engrish the is interesting
Disclaimer:
Alright, now I am fully aware of the difficulties of learning a second, third, forth or what-have-you language. I am trying to learn Japanese, and have been for 10 years now with nearly nothing to show for it. Nonetheless, I try and do frequently make mistakes, even publicly.
Alright, now that I am done justifying this awesome post to my self, here it goes. I recently joined the Japanese version of Facebook/myspace call Mixi. Almost immediately I have people sending me messages asking if I will be their foreign friend to help them learn English. I teach English on a daily basis to high school students and these are "dumb kids" in the Japanese eye, but I'm pretty sure their English would shit on this message I got.
Here is the message in English he wrote:
Hello.
I am 22 years old in a man in Japan.
I want to make friends with the foreigner
though it is not good at English.
Is if it is good, it a mail stripes cork?
In Japanese below:
こんにちは。
私は日本の男で22才です。英語は得意ではありませんが、外国人と友達になりたいです。
よかったらメールしませんか?
to the best of my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong please), this says:
I am a 22 year old Japanese man. I have no pride in my English, and I want to make a foreign friend. Is there a good time for us to message?
I don't know where the fuck mail stripes cork came from, but your ass better believe I'm starting a band called "The Mail Stripe Corks" I also keep picturing that this guy is the little frog from Space Balls waiting to jump out of someone.

得意 is like 上手 [ジョウズ]- to be skilled at or excel in...
I don't get em thru mixi anymore, but I get some reaaal humdingers at work sometimes.
noone's ever solicited me for english learning through mixi before - although the site seems to be getting gunked up with fakey eroi accounts - i feel like everyone in my ashi-ato these days is a skinny hostess in her underpants and scary-colored contacts lens.
and the problem lies where exactly???
hmm...it's as bad as some dude using an idol bikini pic as his profile image.
I want to be in Mail Stripes Cork. I have a drum kit.
sick, I got a drummer! I was thinking we could just go timpani es & jingle bells for percussion. I'm on recorder, still got that Yamama (all white son) lying around somewhere.
Seriosly, the "sakura" accts. are oooi. don't get fooled!
