Purple Rain

I just bought the CD soundtrack to this film last Saturday. Since then my life has been a Purple Haze, all I can think about is getting to a cd player, and listening to that soundtrack over, and over.

Last night I watched the movie for the first time in my life. I fucking loved it. So good.

I hope this is nothing new to all of you. I hope all of you have had your Prince enlightenment at some point. If not, then you need to purify yourself in the waters of lake Minnetonka.

1.Let's Go Crazy
2.Take Me With U
3.The Beautiful Ones
4.Computer Blue

6.When Doves Cry
7.I Would Die 4 U
8.Baby I'm A Star
9.Purple Rain

Yeah Jared, Prince is rad. Especially his early stuff, i.e. "Head" off "Dirty Mind". That track/album is fucking amazing. Little trivia tidbit for record buyers/setters. Prince is the only person to have the #1 song, album and movie in America at the same time. Purple Rain.
Have any you dudes heard his new single? "Black Sweat"

And by coincidence I woke up today and put on "Just Another Sucker" which Keith introduced me to. Its from Minneapolis Genius which is like, Prince's first recording session, at the age of 15 or something.

reduckulous

Erotic City is the jam.
after listening to just about everything in print, I'm going to say I like everything Prince did up until 1987's Sign 'O' The Times.
Controversy might me my favortive record by him.

Erotic City was the B-side to 1984's "let's go crazy".

The Parliament cover version of it is *almost* better...but not really.

Also, Ned, Erotic City drums are the basis for that one Bob Sinclar jam I had that we both liked. Older 12" I had.

Must we forget the eight teen vocalists that forever changed the landscape of mediocre, slow jam R&B? i.e. The Jets.

The Jets are from Minnesota? For some reason I thought they were from Hawaii.
anyway, Last night I picked up Keith & Yoske in an attempt to attend the Books concert, with Dosh as the opener. We didn't make it, the show sold out, but we did listen to Purple Rain in the car, and I had a lot of fun breaking down the album, and the film. It really is an amazing piece of work.

I have alot of fun breaking down in public, in tears when i think of good music and good times.

Sign O' The Times may or may not be a good albumd, but Ballad of Dorothy Parker is good in that it starts with a hot beat and hot gurgley synths that I need to make even better with my magical music wizardry...

I think that can easily be done. BODP starts off hot, then loses it somewhere in the first line Prince sings. Sign O the Times is a good album. A double album. The last good album Prince did, if that's saying anything.
