R.I.P. Kirby

It's a sad day for Minnesota sports fans after loosing our all time great much much too soon. He was one of the main reasons that I have been so passionate for sports and taught me that the enjoyment taken from competitive athletics is one of the most special things that we have in our current world.

When I was real young, 7 maybe 8, I saw him rob a homerun late in the game. The catch ensured a win. It was a spectacular display of awareness and athleticism. The crowd lost it, probably my greatest sports memory. I remember my ears ringing the rest of the day.

What a great picture.
Like many of you, I also have fond memories of watching Kirby Puckett when I was young.
I moved to Minnesota in the summer of 1992, and since I didn't have any friends that summer, my dad took me, and my brother to a lot of Baseball games.
Growing up in Hawaii, I didn't get to see many pro sporting events live, and I never had a team to call my own.
That first summer in Minnesota, I would look forward to the next Twins game with my dad, and brother, to cheer for the Twins, and Pucketts large ass.
Even though I didn't see any of his most spectacular baseball moments, he was always worth watch.
Years later, as a valet, I parked his Suburban.

Last night I went to the Kirby memorial service at the metro dome. Very well done. I'm glad I went.
