L'Anarchie Pour Le U.K.

A week ago, I got the Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle on DVD, and it had me really into wanting to find out more about the Sex Pistols. I was first impressed with Malcolm McClaren's take on the band. In the film Malcolm makes the band seem like something he single handedly manufactured to create chaos in the music industry, and get as much money of out it as possible. I wanted to find out more about the band, so I did a lot of reading, and ordered a few things online.

I got the soundtrack for the Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle, because it has this disco medley of some Sex Pistols songs. The Black Arabs - Anarchy In The U.K./God Save The Queen/Pretty Vacant/No One Is Innocent (medley) (zShare). There's also this French accordion version of L'anarchie Pour Le U.K. that was used in the film.

I thought I'd buy Sid & Nancy on DVD, so I could watch it, and get over any curiosity I may have had. Just as I suspected, the film sucks. It might accurately show how annoying the two were, but it's a waist of time for anyone that is trying to find out any truths about the Sex Pistols, or Sid & Nancy as real people.

Here's a Sid Vicious interview on video. The guys is so fucked up, that he's actually falling asleep in the middle of answering questions. I think it's in the film
The Filth & The Fury, but I'm not sure, I haven't see that yet. Still waiting ofr my DVD in the mail.

There's something intriguing about Malcom McLaren. He gets a bad rap and is reviled for not really being "for the music" and of pure intentions and shit in all that he was involved in... but I'd like to know more about him. Having a rold in breaking those guys and also early cross-over hip hop stuff... must've had an interesting life.

A lot of people think Malcolm is a total shyster, which is probably true.
He's really smart though.
He managed the New York Dolls before he managed the Sex Pistols, and he created a lot of sounds that are still used in hip hop today.
I'm going to do more reading on him
