Swedish Timberlake

I was just talking with a co-worker about days of the past. Before my time. It was common for a band, or musician to release a song, and have a lot of other big name bands, or musicians do a cover of that song for release on their own record.
Bands were doing hit covers of Dylan songs as soon as Dylan was putting them out himself. To me, that shows other musicians are out there, not just working on their own shit, but actually listening to what others are putting out.
Now days music lawyers don't fuck around, and laws are being made to limit the use of other peoples work, so there is less artistic license to legally work with.
However, a similar type of artistic community still exsists today in rap music. Everyday people are working on mix tapes, and recording their own flow over a beat some other cat released. It's fresh, and it promotes everything it touches.

The other day I came across a cover of Justin Timberlake's single My Love, done by Swedish pop musician Mirat Bergman, and I just started thinking about how cool that is she did it. Even if I don't like her version on the song, and I don't, she still managed to get me to know who she is.
