RECORDS!2
In 1980 Alicia Myers left One Way ("Cutie Pie," "Push") but continued to work with the group's masterminds, Kevin McCord and Al Hudson (One Way used to be Al Hudson & the Partners!) on her solo records for MCA. One Way records had pretty poppin' production which explains the awesome crisp (early digital?) sound on this 12" "You Get the Best From Me (Say, Say, Say,)" and it's magically mechanical (LinnDrum?) beat break down towards the end. Josh has recently taken that beat out for dinner, talked it into bed, and slyly yet gracefully impregnated it with his digital finger fuck (somehow). But he can tell you about that--and that's not why we're here today: the B side has the real beauty. So much more immediate and sincere--although your initial impression might be "melodramatic R&B boogie ballad," give it a fucking chance you asshole!
This is one of my favorite songs of alls the times--deal with it.

It was great being back in MPLS and spending hours slappin' through records and actually being able to listen to a stack before buying and obtaining the best of the bunch for a couple bucks, and rarely more. Of course Tokyo's got records (like a motherfucker) but shops like Cheapo or Hymie's aren't very common. Of course the shops here are pretty much all killer no filler, but you sometimes pay a pretty price (for condition and selection) and can't always preview shit before buying it.
Anyway, I got a stack of some good shit back home and have been meaning to mp3-a-tizzo some of the jams for some of you guys, and talking with Ned (then and today) about records and stuff got me going on finally putting up more songs.
I wanna do a 12" a week or so, hopefully all at 256kbs or better, unless I fuck up... here's a double-dose to get me started.

Aging$
In follow-up to a conversation with Ryan and a sleepy Josh during Aya and my brief trip to Tokyo over the past two weeks, here are some links on the idea of an aging money system.
I would recommend first reading Momo by Michael Ende...or maybe last. Either way it is a great story and deals with the issues of money and time in a brief and beautiful tale of fantasy.
The last work of Ende, actually not his writing but an interview conducted by NHK during his final days when he lived in Japan, titled, Ende's Last Message (Ende no Yuigon) is the best place to find him directly discussing his ideas on economic theory...but I couldn't find a full translation online. There is however, this article, talking about the interview and the topics discussed therein.
A reference and predecessor to Ende's thinking is Silvio Gessel, and his work on economic theory and an aging money system can be found, in full, here.
I have yet to go through all of Gessel's work...but it's interesting stuff and worth a look at least.

OHHHH YEAAAAH!
I gotta say, Macho Man is far deeper than I remembered. Quick-witted and a great interviewee, and don't get me started on Arsenio's skillz. I miss the 90's/childhood...

The first rule of fight club...
...the musical, is don't talk is don't talk about fight club the musical. If we can stop the buzz now it might now actually happen. Though, I should add, it's possible this will have a greater impact on me than the book or the movie, because having heard this news earlier today all I can think about doing is punching myself in the face.
What in the name of Jesus-Benét Ramsey are these people thinking!? It's just another example of how something that was cool can be destroyed by its very creator... Chuck Palahniuk should probably stop playing with George Lucas.

My Dawgs!
I just want to say that it was great getting to see Ryan, Josh over the last few weeks, and even Kyle for a few days. You guys are my best friends, and I love it when the whole crew is together. Maybe we can start planning a big group trip to Tokyo. You know, get Me, Derek, Matt, Ned, Keith, and the Marks to make the trip all at the same time, and we'll get some bunk beds for Ryan's place.
