More Funny

Jon Glaser. He's does a great, dead-pan, routine, and kills it everytime. Check out this bit about his dad being the fourth member of ZZ Top.
Oh...and did you know about Micheal Showalter's bandThe Doilies?

This just in: the rioting will never end. At least this rioting isn't about Snoopy taking a shit on the Koran. But don't these Imam posters remind you of some No Limit album art? I mean, look at his fucking boys back there! Put those fuckers on a track! And look at that Mullah; he been smokin' pounds!
Oh, and if you don't like these two bonnie Prince Billy and Tortoise tracks (discussed here before), I don't know what to say to you.

Snap, Crackle, Pop.

Two albums of 2005, that I liked, didn't even make a blip on the radar. Chad VanGaalen - Infiniheart & Mazarin - We're Already There.
Both are great pop records, but I think Mazarin holds it down better in the replay catagory, they've been doing it a little longer. Chad VanGaalen has better lyrics & stories, but shows off a little too much vag' on some of his cuts. Something about his song writing makes me believe his next record will be better than this current one.
Check out the opening tracks to both albums:
Chad VanGaalen - Clinically Dead
Mazarin - The New American Apathy

Yo Pussy's Leakin', Gurl

Hey Ryborg, here is the mp3 of that Billy Wooten cover of 'Walking In the Rain' you asked for a couple of cyberweeks ago. And for anyone else who hasn't heard this goddam gem of a cover. This is always the jam, even on sunny days, more soulful than even the original Dramatics version...

But, just to counteract the moody effects of Walking in the Rain, there's Central Line's 'Walking Into Sunshine,' to bust out when you are through feeling sorry for yourself about whatever...

The Thompsons...Be More Funny!

Fox's Sunday evening cartoon The Simpsons had lost it's funny bone a couple years ago, but I may have found it here.
Oh yeah...here is some grime for ya's.

For You, Right Here, It's Awesome.

I pick up a lot of music. I also get bored with trying to be impressed with music. So I fall back on the comedy cd's I get, because they're funny, for the most part. One comedy collection that I got recently is Invite Them Up, which has three cd's, and a dvd of some of the funniest underground comics in New York City. Invite Them Up is actually a stand up show at a place called Pianos, in the lower east side of New York. I'm going to New York this summer, and hope to make it to Invite Them Up when I'm there.
One of these comics is a kid named Aziz Ansari (pictured above), and I thought I'd give him some props here on The Forest Heights, so y'all know who he is too. This Mutha Fucka makes me laugh. I wouldn't say he's the funniest person on Invite Them Up, but I like his bit enough to keep going back for another listen.
For more laughs, check out Mike Birbiglia.
I hope you laugh.

A Cup Of Tea

Very brief.
I have been listening to the new Belle & Sebastian record The Life Pursuit. I already think that it's much better than their 2003 release Dear Catastrophe Waitress, but I still need more time to make any conclusions about this album's longevity. One thing is for sure, Belle & Sebastian can still write very good pop songs, and even though this album was recorded in Los Angeles, the group is still very British.
They let us know that with songs like For the Price Of A Cup Of Tea, and We Are The Sleepyheads.
It's Dre Day mutha fucka!

in april a new law will spread its hate across japan. it forces used electronic retailers of all walks to get an inspection license so they may probe their goods before trying to sprinkle visual and aural love throughout the nation...and all over the earth. until now this was the government's job - so if a used famicom blew off your face it was their fault...potentially. the government was responsible for inspecting all used electronics and only sending the approvables, with a sticker, to retailers. i have never seen one of these stickers in all my browsings through used electronic stores and recycle shops. this is probably why they are changing the law.
the new law puts all the responsibility on retailers - forcing them to get a license before selling and actually inspect their goods. it seems the license is easy enough to get, but the inspection is time consuming and very strict apparently and if you don't get a sticker on one, or don't properly inspect it you can face a hefty fine. it seemed that small businesses would suffer the most, not possibly being able to meet the regulations and closing shop but it's big places like Sofmap, Hardoff (like Bookoff, but far more serious), Ishibashi and FiveG that are already clutching at their hems and standing on chairs swearing off used electronics...forever.
i probably didn't explain this properly enough to stress its severity but it's scary stuff. some people are comparing it to witch burning.

Paging Kevin Kash...

Justin, I better see a post re: this hilariousness on your rapblog tomorrow.

Throughout his career, Cam'ron has put more than a few MCs on notice, but now he's turning his scorn toward sexual predators who try to hook up with kids on the Internet. In October Cam plans on putting out a DVD featuring several of his own sting operations.

Nice, but where are the fucking hover-boards?

The future is WOW!

la ciudad de fucking dirty air

Dunno if any a you dudes saw this on boingboing today, but here are some amazing aerial photos of Mexico City.

Old man.

Wow! I was trying to find a picture on the google image search, and typed in {Bathing suit}. The results were women in bathing suits. Then I wan't to make it a little funny, so I punched in a search for {old man bathing suit}, and it was all women with out bathings suits, but no old man. I didn't get either of the things I was looking for, but there was a picture of this.

Who's The Boss?

I grew up putting down guys like Bruce Springsteen, and John Cougar Mellencamp. Something about that "early eighties, heartland feeling, dad lost his job at the factory, and now I write rock songs" shit just pissed me off.
Bryan Adams tried to get in on that too, but it didn't work so well when people found out he was a Canadian pussy, and not a U.S. quarterback type.
I still have resistance about taking all that shit seriously enough to want to hear it, or enjoy it.
Every once in a while I will hear a song that I like, by an artist that I like, then I find out that song is a cover, of an artist I brushed off as overrated. Which brings me to why I'm writing this.
This new album The Brave And The Bold is a Tortoise and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy collaboration. The second track, titled Thunder Road, was haunting to me, I didn't know why, but I loved it. Later as I was reading the liner notes to the album, and discovered that Thunder Road is a Bruce Springsteen song, and it opens up the album Born To Run. Which I recently realized is actually a really good album, with a really good title track.
I guess my point is even though I grew up listening to Punk Rock, and Rap, I shouldn't write off good song writers as crap song writers just because they don't fit into the above catagories.
I still don't like John Mellencamp.
The Brave And The Bold is an all cover song album, and I highly recommend getting it in some way.

Beast Infection.

Darondo - Treat you right [re-edit from some cyber dork]

Beanie Sigel - Purple Rain

Handsome Boy Technique - Walk across the Rooftops

1st: is 70's Bay Area soul singer's rare shit recently reissued by Ubiquity. It's a pretty quality album. This is some innanet guy's re-edit, pitching it up quite a bit and adding a break. Album version is a bit more subtle & sweet, but this remix is really nice.

2nd: Fucking awesome Beanie Sigel track about sippin drank (us white boys call it promythazine, apparently.). Samples an even doper track by Billy Wooten doing live rendition of "Walking in the Rain." [maybe Jersh can hook us up with that mp3]

3rd: The Avalanches Japanese understudies doing some interesting things outta Kyoto. Nothing super original, but not bad at all. The budding scene down there seems to be lead by this guy's label; Second Royal.

Chop your balls off,
